Bible Blunders & a Church Divided PART 1

John and Ben kick off this series by pondering the belief that the Bible has no errors.

  • What does the church mean by “Inerrancy” and is this even an ancient viewpoint?
  • What is the difference between Catholic and Protestant views?
  • What does this Doctrine mean in light of the total inaccessibility of the original “inspired” texts?
  • What do we do with other ancient texts that were once considered part of the Canon by different communities throughout Church history?
  • Can we test the falsifiability of inerrancy with textual criticism?
  • How long have scholars known about the numerous problems and contradictions within the Bible?
  • And why do we never hear about this stuff!?

John and Ben will attempt to answer these questions and reveal if this doctrine is responsible for division and fractures that we see in the Christian church today?

Stay tuned for another fun edition of False Witness where John & Ben try to identify a false verse intermixed with actual passages from the Bible.

Also, in another edition of Bible vs. Bible:
Did Paul’s companions hear a voice at his conversion? Yes they did. Wait, no they didn’t. Turns out it depends on which Biblical version of the story you read!
