The Skeptics’ Bible Project
The Skeptics’ Bible Project is a podcast where we (John & Ben) share our fascination with studying the Bible outside of the lens of religion. Our project is to rescue the Bible from fundamentalists who insist it must only be read from a devotional perspective. We dig deeply to find the true history and teachings found inside. In each episode we try to present the Bible in a fresh perspective using the historical critical method. Always eager to engage in the exciting conversation with Skeptics, Atheists, and Christian’s alike. Weekly topics include Bible contradictions, historical errors, non-orthodox teachings, down right strange passages, and everything that most Pastors won’t mention from the pulpit.

John and Ben kick off this series by pondering the belief that the Bible has no errors.
What does the church mean by “Inerrancy” and is this even an ancient viewpoint?
What is the difference between Catholic and Protestant views?
What does this Doctrine mean in light of the total inaccessibility of the original “inspired” texts?
What do we do with other ancient texts that were once considered part of the Canon by different communities throughout Church history?
Can we test the falsifiability of inerrancy with textual criticism?
How long have scholars known about the numerous problems and contradictions within the Bible?
And why do we never hear about this stuff!?
John and Ben will attempt to answer these questions and reveal if this doctrine is responsible for division and fractures that we see in the Christian church today?
Stay tuned for another fun edition of False Witness where John & Ben try to identify a false verse intermixed with actual passages from the Bible.
Also, in another edition of Bible vs. Bible:Did Paul’s companions hear a voice at his conversion? Yes they did. Wait, no they didn’t. Turns out it depends on which Biblical version of the story you read!

On this premiere episode John and Ben explain that Christian family values are not biblical. Unless you mean hating your family. They take a close look at how Jesus had a radical anti-family message. Then they find that the apostle Paul isn’t much different.
This notion could hardly be more different than the multimillion dollar industry that preaches family values today. What could be the reason for this radically anti-family thread that runs through the New Testament?
Also, John & Ben are puzzled by how forgetful Jesus seems to be on the first installment of Bible Vs. Bible. Is this a contradiction?
Also on the show, the World Premiere of False Witness, the segment where John & Ben try to identify a false verse intermixed with actual passages from the Bible.
